The San Andreas Medical Services or SAMS is the Primary Medical Department for the State of San Andreas.

Description[]

The San Andreas Medical Services or SAMS is the Medical services of the State of San Andreas. SAMS provides medical treatment to all citizens of Los Santos, regardless of status or affiliation. SAMS has four divisions, TacMed, Hospital Staff, CrossMed and San Andreas Mental Health (SAMH). TacMed specializes in retrieving injured citizens from dangerous and unpredictable situations. Hospital Staff include the Doctors who provide treatment and surgery within the hospitals and the Security guards who help keep order. CrossMed is the middle division that helps with both doctor and TacMed side, doing both and going to calls only when needed to. SAMH aids the mental well being of the citizenry through therapy and medication. SAMS also provided medical training to designated members of San Andreas State Prison Authority.

History[]

Early History and the Walketov Era[]

The San Andreas Medical Services were in severe debt and as a result, were overtaken by Overseer Jess Walketov. During this change in leadership, the Emergency Medical Services transitioned into an armed tactical medical response unit referred to as TacMed. The hospital also went through many changes, beginning with charging patients for medical care and treatment, along with the introduction of state medical insurance purchasable from any available hospital staff or TacMed unit.

Shortly after the election of Governor Jimmy Bones, the citizenry took umbridge with the application of force used during operations from TacMed. Governor Bones began a push to repeal the Medical Protection Act and remove the ability for SAMS and its departments to use government supplied weapons and to actively defend its staff and patients. Utilizing the political clout of Sheriff Randy Wrangler, the Governer quickly gathered support and repealed the act, reducing TacMed's force to the same level of any law abiding citizen. Namely the right to defend oneself under the Castle Doctrine. In retaliation, Jess Walketov decided on having TacMed becoming "CatMed". This included wearing no pants, cat ears, and in response to being held up or talked to had to end all sentences with "Meow" or a different phrase.

Shortly after the loss of the Medical Protection Act and the negative reception to her ploy, Jess Walketov attempted a takeover of Los Santos with an army that included clones and other soldiers from outside of the state. The invasion was quickly repelled by state agencies and local citizens, with many opposing ground joining together to push back the enemy soldiers. With her invasion in shambles, Jess Walketov fled the state in a stolen SAMS helicopter.

The Hilton Era[]

With SAMS leaderless and its reputation in shambles, Governor Bones appointed Britney Hilton, Tiffany Richards (Formally Tiffiany Hilton) and Chanel Money to lead SAMS and rebuild its reputation. TacMed was restored to its pre-Cat version, minus the government weaponry. The San Andreas Mental Health Department was opened in Pillbox Medical, led by Underseer Nycole Greene (who has since retired.)

Of the original three Overseers appointed by Governor Bones, only Tiffany Richards remains. The others have left to pursue careers in law enforcement. Overseer Hilton continues to work on improving the quality of health care provided by SAMS through various initiatives and policy reworks.
